David Morgan
Dr David Morgan is the current Chief Executive Officer of Westpac, one of Australia’s leading banks. He joined Westpac Bank in 1990 and prior to becoming CEO held roles with responsibility for all major operating divisions including Westpac Financial Services, Retail Banking, Commercial Banking, Corporate and Institutional Banking and International Banking. David reached the position of Senior Deputy Secretary during the Hawke-Keating Federal Government, where he contribued to government policy for the financial sector, specifically supporting the floating of the Australian dollar as well as financial deregulation more generally. He also worked in the International Monetary Fund in Washington in the 1970s and the Federal Treasury in the 1980s.
David Morgan is a member of the Prime Minister’s Business Community Partnership board.
He studied economics at La Trobe University, before studying at the London School of Economics and receiving a PhD in economics from Harvard University.
He is married to Ros Kelly, a former minister in the federal parliament.
