The Practice of Management

In this Convention AIM is inviting all managers to come together as a collegial group – to see ourselves for a moment not as specialists in our fields but rather as sharing a common role and purpose as practising managers.

Do we ever pause to think whether management should be viewed as a profession in its own right, for instance? What is the difference between management and business? Why is good management so fundamentally important and what are the characteristics of an effective manager?

There is no-one better placed to guide us through these questions than David Maister who has spent more than 20 years advising professional services firms around the world. He will want to know your views so expect a controversial but very inclusive session!
